Newsletter October 2008 |

Welcome…… to the new EuropeanPWN Nice – Côte d’Azur newsletter. The newsletter has had a very long ‘holiday’ indeed, but is now being re-launched in a new format: HTML rather than adobe attachment. Most of us are unable to attend every event, so the newsletter is a way to keep in touch on a regular basis. As always, if you have suggestions for newsletter content or any comments in general, we appreciate you sending it to

Members’ testimonials: Marion Furr“I just had to write to say what a great organisation the EuropeanPWN is! Until January 2009, I am on sabbatical from my role as a Deputy Director in the Department of Health in London. My main objective is to learn to speak French. I am a lively and outgoing person but hadn’t anticipated how difficult it could be to make new friends while my French was still poor… I had joined the network before I came to France and the people I met here really made me feel welcome. I soon met Pascale who works for Dale Carnegie Training. She joined the network to improve her English skills so we agreed to help each other. I know it would help me to be in a French working environment, but the conditions of my sabbatical do not allow this so I offered to work for free in return for work experience. Pascale facilitated an agreement whereby I get to benefit from Dale Carnegie Training’s programmes in French- in return for the work I do. Isn’t that fantastic? So for me the EuropeanPWN has exceeded all my expectations. I have been welcomed into a new network of professional women who immediately helped me to feel less like a stranger in a strange land and offered all sorts of useful information to help me succeed. Thank you everybody, and especially Pascale.” |

From the European ArenaEuropeanPWN in Milan were the hosts of this year’s European Annual General Meeting for our association. The biggest AGM ever, the June 27-28 event included a very professional press conference (hosted by Egon Zender), great news about new partners (Coca Cola, Sodexho… see the web site for details) and opportunities for Presidents – new and seasoned – to discuss and learn from one another. Next year’s European AGM will be right here in Nice, giving us the opportunity to showcase our region, our network, and not least our fabulous members (you)! There will be more to follow when planning gets more detailed. The second edition of the |

Messages from the PresidentAt the AGM in January there will be elections for the Board positions, as usual. It is always great to have some new blood, so please consider having a chat with existing Board members to find out if it’s something for you. Also, as always the Board and I are delighted to hear feedback and ideas from you. Do not hesitate to get in touch, especially if you can’t participate in as many events as you would like to: one of the ‘side effects’ of being a professional woman is being very busy!!
