Clara Pascal graciously offered us her elegant home for our final event of 2008. There was a great atmosphere amongst the 50 or so women who made the most of catching up, making new connections and just having a fun time. There was an impressive display of support for Universal Aid for Children (www.UacUkraineRelief.org) in the form of un-wrapped gifts. And there was no shortage of food, provided by the talented catering firm Crazy Gourmet (see their special offer below). Question is, what do we do next year to compete with that??!!!

This second event of the NLP series covered NeuroSemantics, the latest development of NLP and experiencing how it can be used in the area of personal development.
Overview of the many facets of the EuropeanPWN website, and how to get more out of our unique platform.
Florent Fusier and Giorgia Sanfiori (both certified NLP trainers and coaches) introduced twenty members to Neuro Linguistic Programming. Through a series of discussions and exercises we learnt some of the basics of NLP and how to use some of the techniques to improve the way we communicate with people. We left with guidance on how to improve the communication in a difficult relationship and how to define a well-formed outcome.
This workshop was held both for members who were already part of the mentoring programme and for members who wanted to join. Photini Papatheodorou – coach, trainer and academic – explained to us how to get the most out of our mentoring relationships and helped us develop our rapport building skills. As a result of the workshop 4 new mentoring pairs were created.

Twenty members and guests met for an interactive workshop to learn how to improve their Elevator Pitch. Two of our members, Dorothy Foster and Julia Haston had thoroughly researched the topic and shared with us their findings – what is an elevator pitch? Why do you need one? How do you go about creating one? What makes a good one? Using a combination of short videos, presentation, examples and exercises they ensured an entertaining and thought provoking learning event. Following suggestions from members we’ll be providing opportunities on a regular basis, for members to practice their pitch and receive constructive feedback from peers.

Côte d’Azur Pionnieres Director Annie Blandel explained how this newly created business incubator can assist with start ups. As a live example of how this association can help, our very own member Karen Marsh presented her own Start Up experiences
With the use of the excellent AGORA Einstein facilities, we teamed up with make-up specialist Bluette Aimée Voegelin and photographer Phillipe Laval. Together they wove their magic to provide the attendees with some fantastic professional photographs. Meanwhile, we also worked in pairs to enhance our online profiles.
Cécile Demailly, member of the European PWN board in Paris came to share with us her findings on the subject of Online Networking. The session prompted us all to go create or clean up our online profiles to ensure that our digital images work in our favour.
An informative and inspiring evening was spent in the company of Mirella Visser, our charismatic President who shared her wide ranging experiences with us. She discussed the role and the impact of our network, where we are headed and what the priorities for 2008-2009 are. She also shared with us what the European of the Year nomination meant to her.
Mirella is an accomplished business woman and entrepreneur in addition to being the ever hardworking president of our growing European network. Nominated in 2007 by a distinguished panel of opinion-leaders from across the European Union as one of the 50 most influential Europeans of the year, Mirella is clearly making her and the EuropeanPWN’s mark on the European diversity debate and the promotion of professional women’s progress.
We celebrated this occasion with a mentoring workshop. Barbara Wilson of Wilson Development Associates, personal and professional coach, facilitator and trainer and founder of the EuropeanPWN Nice-Cote d'Azur, explained to us what mentoring is and helped us to develop our listening and questioning skills. During the workshop 14 new mentoring pairs were created.

We held a visitor stand to promote the network during the two days of the symposium and many of our members attended some of the seminars.
This first FemmAgora symposium aimed to introduce the feminine values (feelings, intuition, enrichment by diversity and difference, and compromise…) and their contribution to a sustainable approach to our society, our way of life and growth, and the way we undertake things.
Femm-Agora 2008 was a rendez-vous for exploring forms of management and entrepreneurship based on the increasing integration of female values in the business world. It provided examples of new ways for growth and strategies based on women’s ethics and translates the commitment of civil society and businesses in a sustainable development approach.
